Why You Should Train Through Your Period

Many women skip training during their period due to pain or fatigue. Research shows pain tolerance peaks before and during menstruation for many; strength can be at its highest. Training through often produces some of the best sessions, particularly for strength work.

When this applies

Strength training works well through period for most women. Endurance work fine but may feel harder. Heavy aerobic effort sometimes more difficult.

When to modify or skip

Severe cramps requiring rest. Heavy bleeding causing fatigue. Migraine or other significant symptoms. Listen to body without using period as automatic excuse.

Trying to train through one or two cycles often shifts the assumption. Many women find they can train well — and the endorphin release reduces some menstrual symptoms.
